I Love You, Lord

Scripture - On the night before Jesus was betrayed, he shared a special meal with his friends. First they shared a loaf of bread. Then they ate their dinner. After dinner, they shared a cup of wine.

When Jesus ate this special meal with his friends, he told them that whenever they have Communion he will be with them, loving them, feeding them, and forgiving them.

Matthew 26:26-28 - Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

1 Corinthians 11:26 - For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

Pray: Thank you for taking care of me. Amen.

Washing the Disciples’ Feet - At the special dinner Jesus gave, he did something odd. He got down on the floor and he washed everyone else’s feet.
How does it feel to sit and have your feet washed?
In our baptism, we are washed clean all over. Jesus tells us he cares for us and wants us to help take care of each other.

Pray: Help me to take care of others. Amen.

Good Friday - On the day Jesus died, he was given a crown of thorns, and nails were used. He died on a cross made of wood.
When Jesus died, his friends were very sad. What makes you sad? Draw a picture on the paper.
The cross reminds us that even when we are sad, God is with us. It’s ok to be sad sometimes.
Take a small cross with you and when you are sad, hold it in your hand and say: “God is with me. God is with me.”

Pray: Remind me you are always with me. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Doxology
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Closing Prayer
Let’s put a hand on our heart.
Father God, fill us with Your love. Help us to love You, and everything that You’ve made.

Let’s point to our eyes.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You, and to see others the way that You see them too.

Let’s point to our ears.
Holy Spirit, help us to hear You, and give us courage to do what You say.
